Happy Halloween

We got a treat for Halloween . . . Grammy came to visit!

Pumpkins Everywhere

We LOVE fall at our house. The leaves are gorgeous, the boys love to carve pumpkins, and for Dennis, our Christmas fanatic, it means the start of Christmas season. If you think I'm kidding, I guarantee that he is already listening to Christmas music in his car. After years of experience, I have learned to put a moratorium on Christmas music in my car before Halloween or after the first week of January.

We are very lucky to live just a few miles from a couple of nice pumpkin farms.



One of the pumpkin patches makes frozen custard and Cameron asked that they both have some with "chocolate smudge." Apparently, Danny knew what he was talking about!



Danny's goal was to find a "yittle punkin" (little pumpkin) so he walked around saying "yittle punpkin where are you?" I don't think this one was it!



Cameron begged for this one and, while it was cool, I didn't think that bringing mold into the house was a great plan.

It's Official, Cameron is a Kindergartner

He marched right in yesterday and we had to call him back for kisses! When we picked him up, he came running to Danny, gave him a hug, and said "Kindergarten's fun!". He then called Daddy at work to tell him that kindergarten is as cool as he said it was. A perfect start to what I hope is a year of learning to love school.

Danny's Growing!

In more ways than one . . . Up until a few months ago, Danny didn't have much to say. Suddenly however, he has found his voice! Aunt Catherine gave both boys gorgeous hand-painted growth charts for their birthdays (a little plug - her friend makes them if you are interested!) and Danny is learning the names of the dinosaurs on his!

Summer is (Almost) Over

Well, it's official, Cameron starts kindergarten next week. I am excited about the the one-on-one time that I will get to spend with Danny and I was honestly looking forward to a little quiet time. However, Cameron left this morning to spend the night with my parents at "Grammy camp" and within 1 hour, Danny and I both thought the house was just too quiet. Danny wandered around all morning asking about his big brother, yes, the same one who occasionally likes to take his toys, pick on him, and fight with him. It's going to be a tough adjustment for Danny and I!

It's been a long, hot summer but I am still shocked that it is coming to a close . . .

A Staycation of Sorts

Our preschooler will be off to kindergarten next year and, with that in mind, Dennis took a couple of days off this month so that we could visit some local attractions before schools were out and places got too busy.

First stop, the City Museum! If anyone is ever in the St. Louis metro area, this place is by far my favorite museum of any that I have ever been to. Everything in the place is repurposed or recycled. It's fun for kids but it's an adult museum. They are even open VERY late on weekends and have a bar. Danny absolutely LOVED the ball pit and Cameron was a big fan of all of the tunnels throughout the museum!







Next stop, a day for Cameron alone with Mommy and Daddy at Six Flags. It never even occurred to me that Cameron might be tall enough for some of the roller coasters but he was and he loved every minute of it!




Now, can you see how this ride not only spins but it also goes UPSIDE down? Guess who road it twice and had to be talked out of going a third time?





Congratulations to our preschool graduate! I'm not sure what you actually have to do to earn a preschool diploma but Cameron got one . . .



Our staycation is over but how can you not smile when your day starts with this?
