Cameron's Love Affair with NYC

We spent the long weekend in NYC, which is quite possibly Cameron's favorite city. Although I was terrible about taking pictures, we had a fantastic weekend. We visited the American Museum of Natural History, where Cameron was thrilled by the dinosaur exhibit, and the Central Park Zoo, however, Cameron was more fascinated by the horse drawn carriages, or as he called it, "the parade of horsies!." We also took a couple of strolls through Times Square where Cameron experienced serious sensory overload. He was amazed by the people in costumes - he saw Garfield, Elmo, Batman, and he had to give Spiderman 5! Thankfully we did not see the man who plays his guitar in his underwear (imagine trying to explain that to a two year old). Much to Cameron's great enjoyment, every trip involved the Subway! He would start cracking up every time the train took off because he loved the bumpy ride. Most importantly, Cameron got to take his first taxi ride - what could be better for a little boy?

If you ask Cameron what his favorite part of NYC is though, he'll tell you "Aunt Catherine." We were lucky to spend the entire weekend with my sister and Cameron ate it up.

When we got home yesterday, Cameron looked at Dennis and I and said, "Thank you for taking me on my trip." I love it!

Big Brother

Cameron's newest obsession is feeling his baby brother or sister jump around. He's also been trying to figure out how the baby got in Mommy's belly - the other day, he asked me if I ate his baby brother or sister!

Night One of the Big Boy Bed

Success!! Cameron stayed in his bed all night and only shouted out once while falling asleep because he bonked his head on the headboard. Of course, he was also EXHAUSTED because he went to the Children's Museum with Daddy in the morning and then skipped his nap. We'll see what tonight brings . . .

Swim Lessons

Cameron's back in swim lessons and loving it! And the best part is, Mommy doesn't have to get in the water. He's one of four little boys in a class with one instructor and each week that we go, I'm shocked at how well he listens to her. Now, if only I can teach him to listen to me . . .

SNOW!!

So, Dennis has finally begun to understand my position that "snow" is a place that you visit, not a place that you live. However, Cameron does not agree! He spent over an hour and a half outside with Daddy this morning shoveling the driveway and playing in the snow. And I watched it all from inside our nice, warm house . . .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Well, it's official - we live in the Northeast. We got quite a bit of snow before we left town for the holidays. Cameron enjoyed playing in it and (FINALLY) figured out the purpose of gloves. We were housebound for the day, so we let Cameron open some Christmas gifts a bit early.

The next day, we packed up in the bitter cold and got on the road. Cameron, Dennis, and I spent the Christmas holiday with Dennis' family in Peoria. We had a lovely visit and Cameron had a wonderful time spending time with Mama and Papa, and especially his little cousin Livi!

After a long drive, we've returned home. Unfortunately, we woke up on New Year's Eve day to discover that the furnace was broke. Not exactly ideal, given that yesterday was the coldest day of the year here and it was a holiday. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it can be fixed today!! And we're starting to wonder why we ever left sunny San Diego??
